Ernest W. King, Jr. departed this life on June 13, 2024 at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Haiden W. Bailey; father, Ernest W. King Sr.; mother, Daphne Gillespie King Forbis; grandparents, Jesse and Tennie Gillespie; sister, Kathy Collins and his nephew, Michael Collins.
Ernest is survived by his daughters, Kathy King and Amanda Bailey; son, Matthew King; grandchildren, Mathias Bailey, Kaylan King and Elijah King; sisters, JoRhetta Gardner and husband Jimmy, Pam Rogers and Margo Hughes; and his aunt, Mildred Bell Dellinger.
He had a passion for wood working projects, working on older cars and he loved his pet dogs.
Ernest had a great love for his children and family. He always enjoyed spending time with his sisters any chance he could. Ernest will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 29th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services with Pastor David “Cotton” Ray officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.
