“A Light From Heaven,” that’s what Calvin Campbell titled this, one of his last photos. It is with great sadness that we learned of Calvin’s passing on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Calvin was a regular contributor for many years to our website Home page photos. This picture was one of the last ones he submitted to us. Calvin and his wife, Gloria, came to us from Florida. He loved the mountains and captured many beautiful pictures of them in every season plus birds and flowers and anything else he found of interest. Many people in this area knew Calvin as “the Peanut Man” for his other hobby of boiling peanuts and selling them out of his truck parked along the Burnsville bypass. Calvin never met a stranger–or rather, when he did they quickly became a friend. Calvin filled his and Gloria’s home with friends for parties that consisted of watching the Kentucky Derby, Mountain Air fireworks, hotdogs and hamburgers and an evening of enjoying listening to him spin tales of days gone by.
